Why a transcript is usually not what you wanted

Most voice-to-text tools measure themselves on how accurately they reproduce your words. That is the easy half. The hard half is that spoken language, written down exactly, is close to unreadable: it repeats, it doubles back, it trails off, and it has no paragraphs.

How accurate is the transcription?

Accuracy is high for clearly recorded speech in a supported language. The variables that matter most are background noise, microphone quality and overlapping speakers. For proper nouns — names, products, jargon — add them to Special Names and they will be spelled correctly rather than guessed.

What audio formats can I upload?
